Market Day

Room 16 had a very successful Market Day. Thanks so much for all the delicious baking brought in. With the donated toys, books, bracelets, necklaces etc we raised $1265! The last of the toys will be sold at a garage sale this weekend and then we will be able to send the money off to the Mother Theresa Children's home in Moratuwa, south of Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Thank you so much for all of your help and efforts. The children were great at sales and marketing, but we couldn't do it without our wonderful parents!!!

Mother Theresa Children's Home

We visited the Mother Theresa Children's Home in Sri Lanka last term. They look after up to 40 children and help to feed poor people in the district. When we talked to Sister Aroha (from Culverdon!) she said their greatest need was for powdered milk and Sunlight soap- good Kiwi items! We would love to send over musical instruments for the children but unfortunately the duty charged can be very high, so for now we will just send a bank draft and cards from Room 16. If anyone is going to Sri Lanka with room in their luggage, please let us know!
